Visit Myanmar street in Taiwan

During this Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, I went to Taipei not only to join a small celebration with my Malaysian friends, but also to visit Myanmar Street in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City. It is a place I had always wanted to go, and I finally made it there.
This semester, I am also taking a Burmese language class at my university. I met many Myanmar friends in Malaysia before, and that made me interested in the language. I really hope to learn it.
My Burmese lecturer once shared that Burmese writing and culture have a deep connection with the moon, the characters actually evolved from the shape of a full moon (၀). Interestingly, the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival also celebrates the full moon, which is the same as the Burmese “Full Moon Day.”
At Myanmar Street, I tried Mohinga, Burmese-style Indian naan, and Burmese milk tea. The Mohinga reminded me of my Myanmar friends back in Malaysia. I wonder how they are doing now. The Myanmar grocery stores there also brought back memories of the ones near Kuala Lumpur’s Petaling Street and Kota Raya. I really wanted to buy a pack of La Phet Thoke to bring back to my dorm, but as a foreign student in Taiwan, I have to be careful with my spending, cannot spend too much, so I did not.
There are also some Burmese students at my university, so hopefully I can have a chance to learn the language with them!
